More About Tina

Tina is a Southern Lancaster County, Pennsylvania native,
“I can’t go to far from home”, she even went to college in Lancaster County.
Her interest in art and color development started early. Both her mother and grandmother were painters. Her grandmother had no formal training in her traditional Pennsylvania Dutch designs.  Growing up on a dairy farm with painters, Tina was bitten with the art bug early.

In high school she took all the art classes she could. As a senior, she was told she would never get into college, let alone graduate.  She was out to prove them wrong. She applied to Millersville State College, (now Millersville University), as an Art Education Major.  But as a junior, changed her major to Elementary Education. She taught as a substitute teacher in the public schools, and as a reading tutor both in the public schools and privately.  She then started teaching nursery school until she needed adult conversation. Tina then worked as a secretary/receptionist.

Tina has been working with fibers all her life.
Weaving, spinning, knitting, sewing, bobbin lace, battenburg lace, crocheting, and counted cross stitch are her major skills.

Her first weaving was the pot holders made with loops on the small lap loom.  She then moved on to an inkle loom. She now owns three looms, a 32” table loom, a 45” floor loom and a 7’ triangle loom.  There is always something on at least one of the looms, and if not, it is cut and about to be put on the loom.  Other weavers have commented that Tina will put anything on a loom and it comes out looking wonderful. At shows fellow weavers come to see her colors.

Tina has been married to her husband Joe for 23 years.  They have one son, Scott, who also is artistic and does drafting (computer aided).  They have three (at the moment) cats, Clark, Tristan and Smokey.  They live on 15 acres of mostly wood land and enjoy nature ever day
